Outdoor Fire Pit Possibilities Using Propane Gas

By: LaZinnia Manley

Outdoor activities are limited for many people due to their work schedules and where they may live. Most populated areas of the country have ordinances precluding many of the outdoor activities that were common in previous times. Things like camp fires, open burning or activities using an open fire. It was common not long ago to barbeque or cook outside using an open fire.

In most towns or cities an open fire is prohibited for many different reasons. This is where an outdoor fire pit using propane gas is very useful. Using propane gas in an outdoor fire pit usually meets fire standards and allows the user many different options. With an outdoor fire pit using propane gas it is possible to have heat for patio activities or other outside activities without the danger of causing an unwanted fire. It is also possible with many of the available styles of outdoor fire pits to grill food. Most types of outdoor fire pits using propane gas are portable and can be moved around the patio or yard to the desired location without creating a fire danger.

Most parks allow the use of propane fired grills or outdoor fire pits. This allows a homeowner with a propane fired grill to carry their pit with them to the park for cooking or simply sitting around in cool weather while visiting with friends and family. Propane fuel comes in differing size containers and makes it easy to choose one most anyone can handle. Another nice thing about propane gas is the availability. Many Jiffy Marts and grocery stores offer propane cylinder exchange making it easy to obtain fuel should you get away from home with a low propane gas supply.

Tailgating is an activity that has become very popular. Tailgating is enjoyed at many types of events and by most any age group. Tailgating parties are common in all seasons and allows an outdoor fire pit to be used for both heat and for cooking food to enjoy. Utilizing propane gas makes it easy to adjust for the desired heat range of the pit. When you are ready to return home there is no residue left and no one would even know a fire pit has been used. You simply load the pit after it cools with the propane tank and return home.

If you fish or hunt for recreation, an outdoor fire pit fired with propane makes it easy and safe to enjoy a fire as well as prepare food. Propane fired pits do not emit sparks and if used properly will not cause wildfires in fire prone areas. Using propane you have an instant heat source and it is adjustable. Using charcoal or wood the heat is less adjustable and is not instant. Always remember not to use any outdoor fire pit next to or under combustible materials. Using a few safety precautions an outdoor fire pit using propane may be used safely in most any outdoor setting.
