Outdoor Fire Pit Use for all Seasons by LaZinnia Manley

Outdoor Fire Pit use is now considered an all year enjoyment. With the explosion of outdoor entertaining and all the different types of pits available, it is only rational that fire pits would be used all year long in all types of activities. Pits are available for burning wood, natural gas, charcoal and propane. You can choose which type of fuel you prefer before purchasing a unit to enjoy.

By using a fire pit you can enjoy the great outdoors most all year long. A portion of these units also come with grills which allow you to cook and grill outside for additional enjoyment. The most important aspect of any fire is to make sure it is controlled and safe. Most of the units sold today will pass most local codes for use around the home and away from home when picnicking of tailgating.

Entertaining at home or in the yard is an easy task using an outdoor fire pit. A well designed one is easy to fire up and start enjoying the warmth and ambience of the fire. No matter which fuel is used they are designed to enjoy for more than just grilling. It is common now for outdoor weddings and anniversaries to include a fire pit in the festivities.

Away from home pits are used for tailgating parties as well as at picnics due to their ease of moving around. Everyone loves to kick back and enjoy the warmth of a fire and enjoy socializing with guests. If you have a gas unit and a small propane bottle you can keep a fire going for quite some time with the hassle of stoking the fire and cleaning up the embers.

I would also include what might be called outdoor fireplaces and Chimineas in this article. They also are an outdoor fire pit and should be included. Different companies now manufacture all these units in different metals including copper, mild steel, stainless steel. Cast iron and cast aluminum. Some are manufactured from other materials such as clay. It makes no difference which design or material you choose you should fire it up and enjoy it to the fullest extent possible.

As with all outdoor fires you should always exercise precaution and make certain your pit is far enough away from all combustible materials. You should take precautions to keep small children away from any heat source to prevent injury to them. With some of the materials used to manufacture fire pits it takes a while for them to cool sufficiently to not cause burns if touched. It is always safer to make sure all persons using and responsible for the pit to be old enough to realize the inherent danger in using and maintaining these units. So many times it is easy to get caught up with the activities going on and get careless. Do not get complacent about fire pits and think everyone around knows not to get too close to a hot surface. Be careful and enjoy your pit all year for many different occasions.
